Medical Office Cleaning in Georgia

Reception areas, exam rooms, restrooms and high-touch surfaces cleaned and disinfected by the product label.

Gloved hand wiping the counter of a clinic exam room

Clinics and medical offices hold themselves to a higher standard of cleanliness than other workplaces, because patients, staff and visitors share the same rooms. Cleaning here follows a written scope that the practice approves, uses products according to their labels and leaves clinical work to clinical staff.

The service covers the rooms around the clinical work: reception, waiting areas, exam rooms, offices, break rooms and restrooms. It does not replace the practice’s own infection control procedures.

What the visit covers

Floors and carpets are swept, mopped and vacuumed. Furniture is dusted and cleaned, and walls, shelving and baseboards are wiped. Windows and mirrors are cleaned. Light switches and door handles are cleaned and disinfected, along with the other high-touch surfaces in reception and exam rooms. Treatment room fixtures are polished and disinfected, sinks, toilets and washroom fixtures are sanitized, and trash bins are emptied and relined.

Equipment inside exam rooms is cleaned only if the practice puts it on the written scope and names the products to use, because manufacturers specify what is safe for each device.

A written schedule, based on the room

OSHA’s guidance for the bloodborne pathogens standard says employers must develop and carry out a written schedule for cleaning and methods of decontamination, based on the location within the facility, the type of surface, the level of contamination and the tasks performed in each area. A cleaning service working in a medical office should work to that schedule, not replace it.

In practice that means the practice defines which rooms are cleaned on which days, which products are used and what happens when something is visibly contaminated. Our visit follows the document and the crew asks before touching anything that is not on it.

Disinfectants: labels, contact time and the order of work

Disinfecting is a two-step job. Soil is removed first, and the disinfectant then stays wet on the surface for the contact time printed on the product label. Health department guidance puts it in three words: clean first, then disinfect. An EPA registered disinfectant carries an EPA registration number on the label, which is also where the surfaces, dilution and contact time are listed.

Products are used only on surfaces the label lists, and wipes are never used on food or hands. Where a spray is not appropriate, the crew uses a cloth that is wetted with the product and left to dry.

What stays with the clinical team

Instrument reprocessing, handling of sharps and regulated medical waste follow the practice’s own written procedures and stay with clinical staff. Cleaning crews work around those tasks. The practice tells us which rooms and cabinets are off limits, and the crew leaves them alone.

How a visit runs

  1. Share the scope

The practice sends its room list, products and rules for areas that are off limits.

  2. Walk through together

A walk-through confirms the rooms, the access and the order of work.

  3. Clean by the schedule

Rooms are cleaned in the agreed order, with high-touch surfaces cleaned and then disinfected for the label contact time.

  4. Report back

Anything unusual is reported to the office contact before the crew leaves.

Questions about medical office cleaning

Do you follow our written cleaning schedule?

Yes. The schedule your practice sets defines the rooms, the frequency and the products. We work to it.

Do you handle sharps or regulated medical waste?

No. Those tasks follow the practice’s own written procedures and stay with clinical staff.

How are disinfectants used?

By the product label: clean first, then apply the disinfectant and keep the surface wet for the listed contact time.

Can you clean exam room equipment?

Only if the practice lists the equipment and the approved products in the scope, because manufacturers specify what is safe for each device.

Can you work after hours?

Yes. Cleaning is usually scheduled after patients leave. Tell us the closing time and access arrangement.

Can cleanliness be verified?

ATP swab testing is available as an add-on. It is described on the electrostatic disinfecting page, along with its limits.
